What is The Book of Resolutions?

In addition to The Book of Discipline, General Conference also passes statements addressing specific concerns. These concerns are published in The Book of Resolutions and are the official positions of the denomination. Other units of The United Methodist Church may address these issues, but only General Conference speaks for the worldwide denomination.

The Book of Resolutions contains all current social policies adopted by the General Conference of The United Methodist Church. The Resolutions guide the work and ministry of the church on almost 200 subjects presented in seven sections:

• The Nurturing Community
• The Social Community
• The Economic Community
• The Political Community
• The World Community
• and Other Resolutions
